New York — Veterans alternative property-tax exemption
File Form RP-458-a with the municipal assessor. An Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Navy or Marine Corps Expeditionary Medal, or GWOT Expeditionary Medal can qualify without a designated war period. Amount also depends on disability. Form RP-458-a / RP-458-a-I (rev. 9/26) also cover the 100% P&T exemption (RPTL 458-a(11)), which is a local option for municipalities and school districts for rolls with taxable-status dates on or after Oct 1, 2026 — not automatic statewide.
